The origins of our preschool
Mrs. Halina and Kazimierz Wąsowscy in act of great generosity and kindness donated a plot of land located in Warsaw at 7 Siekierkowska Street to the Piarist Order.
In accordance with the will of the donors as well as considering the needs of Siekierki district inhabitants’ and the Order’s spiritual gift (education of children and youth), the Piarists decided to allocate the plot to the construction of a Piarist Preschool.
And that’s how our story began…
Father Bogdan Dufaj, Rector of the Warsaw Piarist Order Collegium and Director of Warsaw Piarist Schools, undertook the project of building a Piarist preschool with great enthusiasm.
Preparatory works involved demolition of the old Wąsowski family house as well as replanting the garden to the St Mary’s, The Teacher of Children Chapel garden at 3 Gwintowa Street.
Management of the preschool project
Mrs. Ewa Samojlik, who has been engaged in the life of the Warsaw Piarist Schools for many years, is a great advocate of the Piarist Preschool project and its main coordinator.
On 10 May 1014, Józef Matras, the Provincial Father of the Piarist order in Poland, consecrated the site of the future Piarist Preschool.
The Cornerstone laying ceremony was conducted by Pedro Aguado Cuesta, Father General of the Piarist Order. The cornerstone came from the Roman house of Saint Joseph Calasanz, the founder of the Pious Schools. During the ceremony Fr. Cuesta also planted a red maple tree, one of the ten tree lane planned in front of the Piarist Preschool.
